One of the most meaningful commissions I’ve ever had since I started drawing.
I was approached with a story that went beyond the usual D&D campaigns.
A group of friends had been playing together for over 10 years. Their Dungeon Master, a close friend of theirs, lost his mother after a long battle with cancer.
In their campaign, he had created a character - the owner of the main tavern.
A fantasy character based on the image of his mother.
In the game, everyone simply calls her "Ma".
For years, she played an important role in their stories, and now she had become a part of their world.
And they wanted to preserve her memory through an illustration.
For me, this was not just a commission.
It was an immense show of trust.
I put all my strength and skill into this artwork, everything I was capable of at the time — because work like this cannot be done half-heartedly.
